MTP by MMA (Medical method of abortion) done till7 to 9 wks.This is a method toterminate a pregnancy using a combination of two medicines. Patients are required to take theprescribed doses of mifepristone on Day one, followed by misoprostol on Day two and three.Patient is required to come to the clinic for follow up visit on Day 15 to confirm the completionof the procedure.many women experience some side effects with medical methods of abortionsuch as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, cramping and bleeding. The bleeding may beheavier than menstruation.There are chances that the method may fail to terminate the pregnancy.In such situation, it will be necessary to undergo a surgical abortion to complete the process. If apatient experiences any symptoms or if any concerns about the procedure during the course of the15 days, the patient may call a doctor.

MTP by Surgical Method ( Dilatation and suction evacuation ) done till 11 wks and 6 days.Day care procedure. No need to stay overnight. Done under anaesthesia in OT hence no painduring and after the procedure. You can avail contraceptive services like Copper T or familyplanning Operation at same time.

MTP for second trimester by mini delivery. Done from12 to 20 wks and in certain cases likeabnormal babies till 24 wks.( Recent amendment in MTP act). Two gynecologist opinionsrequired. Our centre provide this facility as we have panel of gynecologist and back of OT andICU incase of emergency


In which Condition MTP is done

  • in order to save the life of the pregnant women
  • in order to prevent grave injury to the physical and mental health of the pregnant women
  • in view of the substantial risk that if the child was born it would suffer from such physical ormental abnormalities as to be seriously handicapped
  • as the pregnancy is alleged by pregnant women to have been caused by rape
  • as the pregnancy has occurred as result of failure of any contraceptive device or methods used bymarried woman or her husband for the purpose of limiting the number of children

Special Condition When MTP done till 24 wks ( Recent update )

  • Survivors of sexual assault or rape or incest
  • Minors
  • Change of marital status during the ongoing pregnancy (widowhood and divorce)
  • Women with physical disabilities [major disability as per criteria laid down under the Rights ofPersons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (49 of 2016)]
  • Mentally ill women including mental retardation
  • The foetal malformation that has substantial risk of being incompatible with life or if the child isborn it may suffer from such physical or mental abnormalities to be seriously handicapped
  • Women with pregnancy in humanitarian settings or disaster or emergency situations as declaredby Government
